Kahana Clinical Research Center

Situated within our clinical practice, the Kahana Clinical Research Center (CRC) consistently delivers best-in-class service to patients, pharmaceutical/biotech sponsors, and research partners.

Our research team has conducted more than a dozen ophthalmic clinical trials with a proven track record of strong recruitment success, low protocol deviations, and exceptional patient retention and completion rates.  With a dedicated and fully trained research team that includes 3 full-time clinical research coordinators, Kahana CRC is equipped for rapid trial activation, moving from partnership initiation to enrollment in just weeks, not months. We utilize a central IRB oversight and industry-standard software for managing and coordinating protocols, regulatory documents and trial data.

Our research team includes four ophthalmologists and a physician assistant, with expertise covering thyroid eye disease, orbital inflammatory conditions, dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Our staff include three experienced full-time clinical research coordinators (all with advanced degrees), masked and unmasked staff to support trial activities, and an experienced business manager to ensure efficient budget coordination and site operations. Our high-volume practices and excellent referral network provide broad access to diverse ophthalmic patient populations, while rigorous pre-screening ensures cost-effective screening and quality enrollment.

What Our Sponsors Say

“[Dr. Kahana] I need to let you know that your site staff, Neema, Foram, and Nadine, have been absolutely amazing these last 3-4 months in particular. At the end of each visit I have very little, if any, action items to address. They answer queries on the spot and provide any missing document as soon as I request it and not to mention their email response time is superb. Your site is 100% compliant on training (I’m impressed). I cannot give this same feedback in any way shape or form to my other sites which is why I felt the need to let you know. They are doing such a great job and work well together. Your site is such a great group to work with.”

“It has been a true pleasure working with Dr. Kahana’s research team on the Viridian studies. Their site consistently demonstrated excellent communication and responsiveness. Our study team could always rely on timely, often immediate, replies to any questions or requests. The team showed strong compliance with study protocols and maintained high data quality standards. They were also open and proactive in making process improvements, including a willingness to retrain when needed, which reflects their commitment to excellence. During monitoring visits, the site was always professional, organized, and thoroughly prepared. For example, when a new request was made to provide me with the quantity and expiration dates of lab kits onsite, the team was able to immediately share this information thanks to their existing, well-maintained tracker.

Overall, Dr. Kahana’s research team has been a highly collaborative and engaged partner throughout the entire study lifecycle, and their dedication has greatly contributed to the success of the Viridian studies.”
