Functional & Reconstructive

The goal of both functional and reconstructive surgery is to restore the aesthetics – or normal cosmetic appearance – as well as the function of the affected areas. We understand that how patients feel matters just as much as how well they see and look.

Thyroid Eye Disease

Thyroid eye disease (TED), is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells erroneously attack the thyroid gland. This attack prompts the thyroid to produce excessive thyroid hormone, leading to an enlarged thyroid and a range of systemic effects due to the hormonal imbalance. The disease notably affects the eyes due to the immune system’s tendency to also attack the eye muscles and connective tissues of the eye’s orbit.
